J K Fenner India Limited recognizing the importance to protect the environment has installed a Plastic shredder machine (AIRAVATH) under their Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives at PruatchiThalaivar Dr.M.G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station, Chennai on 3rd January 2020(Friday) at 10 am.
The Plastic shredder machine was inaugurated by Shri. NagarajuSrirama, President & Director J.K.Fenner (India) Limited, Chennai in the presence of Shri.P.Mahesh, IRSME, Divisional Railway Manager, Chennai Division, Southern Railways. Airavath (Plastic Shredder machine) will crush 25 Plastic bottles per minute of any size. It can consume upto 5000 bottles at a time. The crushed bottle is recycled as raw material and used by Plastic Manufacturers Association by collecting them periodically. The machine is installed at a cost Rs.3.00 lakh.
The Senior Management Team of JK Fenner (India) Limited, represented the Organization for this occasion along with The Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Chennai and Station Director of Chennai Division also participated. The machine was installed and will be maintained by W2W enterprise.
It is perfect step in the direction to Reduce / Re-use / Recycle Plastic. Plastic items can take up to 1000 years to decompose in landfills and plastic bags that are in use, takes 10-1000 years to decompose, while plastic bottles can take 450 years or more. There is a formal system of plastic waste collection in urban areas. J.K.Fenner India joined hands with Southern Railway Chennai Division tied up with “W2W Enterprises” to address the above challenges.
