An upcoming movie about children’s TV host Fred Rogers


Marielle Heller, whose latest film Can You Ever Forgive Me?, starring Melissa McCarthy, is currently in theaters, is directing the Rogers film, written by Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster.Marc Turtletaub and Peter Saraf are producing via their Big Beach Films, along with Youree Henley. Fitzerman-Blue and Harpster will executive produce alongside Big Beach’s Leah Holzer.Rogers, who died in 2003, was the host of the long-running children’s show Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, which opened with a theme song that began, “It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood.” Rogers was also the subject of Morgan Neville’s hit documentary Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, which takes its title from another line in the song and which has grossed $22.6 million domestically and been short-listed for the best feature documentary Oscar.
