Southern Railway Headquarters has taken a giant leap in complete digitization of its offices by embracing the e-Office system. e-Office culture is expected to promote transparency, work-efficiency and accountability of all Railwaymen. The e-Office is a massive ‘go-green’ initiative and will usher in a new era of office work culture. Apart from saving the costs on account of material, this will also help in avoiding cumbersome process of handling files and delays.RailTel, being the nodal agency for implementation of e-Office, has presented the e-Office with four packages- File Management System (eFile), Knowledge Management System (KMS), Collaboration & Messaging Services (CAMS), and Personnel Information Management System (PIMS).
Around 2250 users (officers and staff) have been inducted in the e-Office system in Southern Railway Headquarters. As envisioned by the Hon’ble Minister for Railways and as part of the Government of India’s 100 days’ Action Programme, the e-Office module was inaugurated by Shri Rahul Jain, General Manager, Southern Railway on 26/07/2019 and the first e-File was approved by Shri P.K. Mishra, Additional General Manager & Zonal Incharge/e-Office/Southern Railway.DRM office Thiruchchirapalli already started working on e office platform from 10thJune,2019. Other divisions will be added in the next phase.Sri Sandeep Kumar General Manager, Railtel Principle Head of the Departments were present. Railway staff and 80 RPF staff covering 150 suburban trains between Chennai Beach and Tambaram o¬n 11.06.2019 under the direction of Shri P.Mahesh, Divisional Railway Manager, Chennai. 762 persons who travelled without ticket were penalized and Rs.2,52,915/- was collected as fine from them. Those fined included Second Class Ticket holders travelling in First class as well as transgenders travelling without tickets.
In another special ticket checking drive conducted with 30 Ticket Checking staff and 14 RPF staff covering 94 suburban trains between Villivakkam and Tiruvallur o¬n 27.06.2019, 207 persons were fined and Rs.61,460/- was realized as penalty. The Drive was conducted under the direction of Shri K.Manoj, Addl Divisional Railway Manager.A third Special ticket checking drive was conducted with 53 Ticket Checking staff and 33 RPF staff covering 80 suburban trains between Chennai and Gummidipoondi o¬n 28.06.2019 under the direction of Shri K.Manoj, Addl Divisional Railway Manager. 372 persons were found travelling without tickets and Rs.1,02,530/- was realized as fines.
