SUPPORT TO MANALI MOBILE MEDICARE UNIT
Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd in collaboration with HelpAge India has initiated and started a project called “Mobile Medicare Unit” in 2011 at Manali to provide quality medical care services to the disadvantaged older persons in and around Manali, Thiruvallur District and covers 13 deserving villages where elders are living in unhygienic condition and having no access and affordability towards medical care. This unit is entirely funded by “Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd”. as part of their CSR (corporate social responsibility) activities.
The unit is addressing the health needs of the elders in and around Manali. People above 55 years of age are provided with free medical consultation and treatment without any discrimination of caste, creed and religion. A remarkable improvement in the health status of the elders is visible. The entire operations are being carried out by dedicated and committed staffs.
Launch of New Mobile medicare Unit vehicle
Mr.Siva Kumar, State Head- Tamil Nadu, HelpAge India, delivered the welcome and introductory address by appreciating the wonderful initiative taken by a well renowned corporate Balmer Lawrie & Co.Ltd for continuously supporting the MMU Project at Manali for the past 8 years considering the needs of the elderly people in and around Manali.
The Chief Guest Shri.Ratna Sekar Adika, Director HR& CA, Balmer Lawrie & Co.Ltd addressed the gathering, In his address he lauded the yeomen services rendered by HelpAge India for the past 4 decades and stated that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has always been an integral part of Balmer Lawrie & Co.Ltd with the motive to serve the society. The New MMU vehicle was formally inaugurated by Shri. Ratna Sekar Adika, Director HR& CA, Later he symbolically handed over the keys to Mr.V.Sivakumar- State head Tamil Nadu who received on behalf of HelpAge India and flagged off the vehicle
Shri.R.M.Udayaraja, Chief Operating Officer (leather chemicals) Balmer Lawrie & Co.Ltd stated that he was highly excited to witness the smiling and glowing faces of numerous elders and added that it is joy and peace that determines a person’s success much more than their position or wealth. He insisted that people should be taught to respect, care and love the elders.
